China’s blacklist also includes Italy

Data on import products which do not meet law standards released

The General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine - AQSIQ released data on the rate of import products that do not comply with the national laws of the Republic of China. As for the clothing, in 2014 the percentage of non-compliance was 7.9%, 0.78% less than the previous year.
Quality and safety inspections on products, as well as visual controls showed that the causes of non-compliance mainly concern color fastness, PH values, the decleared percentage of fiber content and product labeling. In the latter two cases, Chinese law provides for the possibility of entry prior correction of the anomaly, whereas the batches that violate the safety and health standards should be withdrawn from the market or destroyed.

The inspection and quarantine authorities of Zhejiang also provided data on the import goods purchased via the Internt: all 16 batches that have been tested have been found to be irregular, for reasons mainly related to the percentage of fiber content declared on the label and the formaldehyde content.
In this regard, the official recommendation is to buy imported products through the B2B2C channel, namely to prefer Chinese companies that buy and then resell these products on the local market.
«All import goods that follow this process are under our supervision, so the risk is relatively low», said Mei Yue Zhand, deputy director of the inspection and supervision department of Zhejiang authorities.
Zhejiang authorities are currently engaged in the creation of a monitoring network of e-commerce, with special attention to quality and safety.
China, meanwhile, has included in its blacklist international brands like Armani, D&G, Gucci, Nike and Adidas.

In general, the non-conforming batches of total sampling carried out through direct purchases on the market and the Internet, port controls etcetera (155 batches) amounted to 67 from 22 different countries. South Korea with 22 batches and Italy with 10 batches are at the top of this ranking.
Checks on 118 batches of apparel products showed irregularities in 53 cases, for reasons of fiber content and composition, incompleteness or inaccuracy of information on the label.
A frequent irregularity is the discrepancy between what is stated on the label and the actual fiber content of the garment. For example, on the label of the products of a given lot it is indicated 90% cotton and 10% spandex, while the actual fiber content is a mix of spandex, viscose and polyamide.
According to the Zhejiang Inspection and Quarantine Bureau, this is a deceptive behavior which damages the interests of consumers.
