China, new rules on outdoor garment
GB/T 32614-2016 national standard was published in November
National standard GB/T 32614-2016 Outdoor sportswear - Water resistant garment, the first one in China involving outdoor sportswear, has been implemented in November last year. This standard, more in particular, applies to water resistant garments which are mainly made of textile materials, except those for infants under 36 months.
This standard specifies the garment size and type, requirements, test methods, judgment rules, instructions for use, packaging, transportation and storage.
Requirements refer to both physical aspects and aesthetic aspects of products. In other terms, the strictly visual features of each item will be considered, including any surface defects, seams, etcetera. As for the first point, the standard takes into consideration different elements such as:
- fiber content
- formaldehyde
- PH value
- azo dyes
- dimensional stability after washing
- color fastness to washing
- color fastness to perspiration
- color fastness to water
- color fastness to rubbing
- resistance pilling
- tensile strength
- water repellency
- permeability
- hydrostatic pressure test
Products will be classified into three quality categories: High Class, First Class and Pass.
